Sakura by LimeGreenSquid Sakura by LimeGreenSquid
(Comments, compliments and criticism on the shape and form and imagery are now allowed, the last post was just to see what people thought of the quality of the grainy piece.)

Sakura, Goddess of Cherry Trees and Cherry Blossoms.

Here she is, smoothed over, and i think looking MUCH more finished. The only things i touched up were the sky and her body. Now i can give the description and stuff that i really wanted to, hehe.
I wanted to do this Sakura for the month of April for the Calendar i am creating. I had the vision of a cherry blossom tree woman, and here she is! I'd also been wanting to draw a goddess with multiple arms, too, so that killed 2 birds with one stone!
After i smoothed out the graininess (which some of you thought fit her skin texture) i now feel a lot better about her. She doesn't look like an amateur trying to pass off the skin as being grainy bark, so to speak, hehe. I can finally say this is one of my favorite pieces.
Now, i don't know if those viney things (i think they may be called lichen?) would be hanging on a cherry tree's branches, but her arms looked bare and needed something so i added them. I like how they look.
And i know her toe roots are WAY too thin to support her beautifully large figure, but i picture her to be slowly in the act of walking. Slithering her toes into and out of the shapes of roots as she lifts and lowers her wooden feet, both pulling and pushing her into and out of the earth. If she were standing still, her green soles would be on the ground, and some of her toes dug into the earth for support, hehe. But then what kinda fun foot pose is that to draw? Right? Right!

Heh, and as i look at her face, she somewhat looks like a cross from Sati (the little girl from The Matrix Revolutions - the shape of the face), and Mystique (from the X-Men movies - i think it's the eyes).

So, please, if you were holding back comments at my request (thank you for your patience) on the original scrap post of this one, please give them here! And i hope you enjoy!

Hi! :) You know what, if I had known you had done a tree woman I probably woundln't have made my entry!!
I agree that your tree woman is in different context to mine, but also, it captures the feel of a 'wise tree', for example the one in the Disney movie Pocohantas- I hope you get what I mean!! The blossoms are also beautiful, and I like how you have sculpted the hands.
Sakura is a more than appropriate name for this piece! :)

Why thank you very much! You know, i haven't seen Pocahontus ... but i think i get what you mean, hehe. Well, i didn't enter it alongside yours ... i didn't even get a good look at the entrants, but someone suggested i throw one in, and, my Rain picture turned out to be a good choice, hehe. And your tree was an excellent choice as well.
So, thank you! And Congrats!

Heh, after as much time and work went into one of her, i doubt there will be any more, hehe! Unless i could find someone else who would be willing to color it. Drawing the images can be hard, but it's the fun part. The only part that feels like work is coloring them.

A sensual/sleeping type pose. Like one sometimes see women painted resting on

that type of couch.

and a pose like Sandro Botticelli used.

Thank you!
She's wandering the earth for a good forest to stand in. She likes ones filled with animals and other pleasant tree-folk to talk to, but she also loves to be alone sometimes on her own hill, blanketing it with her blossom rain!

Well, thank you very much! I'm glad the hands worked in this piece ... only one of them was done with reference to my actual hand ... the one to the top right there.
