Fans will know from where the words in my title come from... the title of my new drawing, which displays some more quotes from the same source...
I was listening to The Doors Movie Soundtrack (i gotta own the director's cut version of that movie, dammit!) the other day in my discman on the way to work and "The End" came on ... one of the funnest songs to sing to, cuz it goes crazy all over the place with the lyrics, hehe.
Suddenly the part when Jim starts singing, "The blue bus... is callin' us ..." i had this thought about this VW Bus that i used to see back home in Chilliwack, BC parked in the school parking lot from time to time. It was SUCH a cool color blue for a vehicle - not wimpy-baby blue, and not boring sports-car blue ... i guess most like the cover of the blue Weezer album. I used to vow to own that bus at some point in my life, and i think it had a "for sale" sign for a while, too ...
And so i wanted to bring it into a drawing with a trippy girl with crazy rainbow hair in all the right places, hehe!
Also, when i was living with Paul and Larry in the house, one of Paul's friends, Darcy, had this bright orange VW bus, so that's where the door color comes from. He was a cool guy, too, he was always real friendly to me. One of those tall lumbering guys, sorta chubby, but not wide - and with a feel of being clumsy, if you've known a person like such.
Anyway, the scan really sucks out the warmth of the real colors, but i hope you enjoy the rainbow hairs!!
This piece is wonderful. The colour streams remind me of a 7-UP promo quilt I had in the 70s. It was printed with images that integrated the classic 7-UP logo and bottle, and it had a bottle/butterfly (bottlefly?) that was flowing with colour in a similar fashion. Now that I remember it, I think it may have been illustrated by Peter Max.
Anyway, this piece is wonderfully psychedelic. I love it.

Have you heard Nico's cover of "the End"? It's special.

Thanks, hehe. I thought the rainbow pubic hair was cool, too. It would be a neat shirt, wouldn't it? Hmmm ...
Haha, yup, a snake in the bus ... now, is she riding the snake, or is the snake driving her?
THAT's the question ... *poses eyebrows in thinking pose*
Haha, that's cool! I'd like to have see that ...
And no, i haven't heard that cover ... i don't really know "Nico" ...
But thank you very much! I do love this one, i spent a lot of time and work on it!
